When the surface is the reason you bought it

Breakfast, homework and dinner for guests on one top
In a week a dining table takes more than any other surface in the flat. A hot plate, spilled juice, a marker that went through the paper. A clear protector leaves the table looking as it did; a printed one turns it into a laid space even without a tablecloth.
What to think about: measure the finished size of the top you want to receive, and decide whether the protector should cover the whole area or only the part under the plates.
A keyboard, a mouse, a mug of coffee next to the laptop and a notebook that shifts around all day. On a work desk, a protector mainly deals with small everyday abrasions and lets the surface be wiped quickly between two calls.
What to think about: often a protector for the working zone alone is enough, rather than the whole top. On an open desk a rounded rectangle feels softer than a sharp corner.
Drawing, modelling clay and a glass that will go over one day
A children's table doesn't need a perfect surface, but one that can be put back in order. A printed motif also turns the table into a place a child sits down at on their own - and makes the evening tidy-up easier for parents.
What to think about: for a children's table we recommend rounded corners and a size that does not overhang the edge of the top.
Bottles that drip, brushes, keys dropped on the sideboard by the door. These small surfaces tend to be the most visible and the quickest to show marks. A capsule shape or a rounded rectangle suits them better than a sharp rectangle.
What to think about: measure the area you actually use. The protector doesn't have to follow the whole sideboard.
A coffee machine, a grinder, somewhere to put the cups. A corner where heat, moisture and drops of milk meet every day is the most common reason customers ask for a protector in a small size. A precisely cut area under the equipment looks deliberate, not makeshift.
What to think about: do not place hot kettles and appliances directly on the protector - use a separate heat-resistant mat.

A sharp corner reads as stricter and more technical; a curve calms things down and copes better with people passing around the table. On small areas a capsule shape often feels more natural than a rectangle.

Can I choose a motif I see here for a different shape as well?
Yes. The motif is independent of the shape. In Studio you place it on a rectangle, square, circle, rounded rectangle or capsule shape, and check in the technical view how it will be cropped at your sizes.
